Terms of Use
Last updated 15 August 2026 · Applies to Riseful for iOS
These terms are the agreement between you and Riseful ("we", "us") for use of the Riseful mobile application. By using the app you accept them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.
Riseful is not therapy, and it is not medical care. It is a reflective practice built around journalling, daily check-ins and self-knowledge questionnaires. Nothing in the app is a diagnosis, a treatment, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified clinician. If you are in crisis or may harm yourself, contact your local emergency services or a crisis line immediately.
1. What the app does
Riseful gives you a daily check-in, a 21-day guided journey, a set of self-knowledge reports, a library of stories and short courses, and a profile chart that reflects the answers you give. Some features are free and some require a subscription.
Reports, insights, charts and scores in the app are interpretations of your own answers. They are intended to prompt reflection. They are not clinical instruments, they have not been validated as psychometric tests, and they should not be treated as objective measurements of who you are.
2. Who can use it
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you may only use the app with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these terms.
3. Your account and your content
Sign-in is anonymous and tied to your installation, so your entries live with the device you created them on. Keep that in mind before deleting the app — see our Privacy Policy for what that means for your data.
Everything you write in Riseful — journal entries, reflections, answers — remains yours. You grant us only the limited permission needed to store it, display it back to you, and process it to produce the features you asked for. We do not publish it, sell it, or use it to train anything.
4. Subscriptions and payment
- Paid features are sold as auto-renewing subscriptions purchased through the Apple App Store.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase.
- A subscription renews automatically unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the period ending.
- You can manage and cancel your subscription in your Apple ID settings. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- If a free trial is offered, any unused portion is forfeited when you buy a subscription covering the same period.
- Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled under Apple's policies. We cannot issue refunds for App Store purchases directly.
Prices may change. Where a change affects a subscription you already hold, it takes effect only at the start of a renewal period, and we will tell you before it does.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the app
- interfere with the app's operation, or attempt to access another user's data
- use the app to break any law, or to infringe anyone's rights
- copy, resell, or redistribute the app's content outside your personal use
6. Our content
The app, its lessons, stories, questionnaires, artwork, name and branding are owned by us or our licensors and protected by intellectual property law. You get a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use them inside the app. That licence ends if you stop using the app or if these terms end.
7. Availability
We aim to keep Riseful running, but we don't promise uninterrupted availability. We may change, suspend, or discontinue features. If we discontinue a paid feature materially, we will provide a pro-rata refund or an equivalent replacement where the law requires it.
8. Disclaimers
The app is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all implied warranties, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the content is accurate, complete, or suitable for your circumstances.
9. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits or lost data, arising from your use of the app. Our total liability for any claim is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or £50.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer, these terms do not affect your statutory rights.
10. Ending these terms
You may stop using the app at any time. We may suspend or end your access if you materially breach these terms. Sections that by their nature should survive — ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability — do.
11. Changes
We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and where the change is material we'll surface it in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use the app after that means you accept the new terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory protections of your home country's law.
13. Apple
Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app. Apple has no obligation to provide support or maintenance. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
